In the discovery phase, we're researching and defining the scope of your website. In particular, it involves activities such as: carrying out user research, establishing goals and defining success, outlining the value proposition and understanding the broader context of your website.
In the definition phase, the requirements that are associated with the website's measurable goal(s) are determined as clearly and as completely as possible. Once the documents are complete for the definition phase, a project proposal will be created for the Design, Development, and Delivery phases. At this point, price negotiations can be conducted and we'll send you a quote for the design, development, and delivery of your website.
Documents Delivered at Definition Phase Completion:
Website Specifications Document
A website specification is a detailed description of the key considerations and components that go into the making of your website. It articulates the project’s goals, objectives and tactics. It gives details about the functions and content that your website will provide. It shows a website map detailing the pages and their meta-content, with consideration given to search engines, user persona(s), and the desired project goals.
Style Guide Document
A style guide is a reference source where we collect and present all of the design decisions for your website. This includes its color scheme, typography, spacing, icons, imagery, and all the visual language used on your site.
Vivid User Persona(s) Document
A persona, in user-centered design and marketing is a fictional character created to represent a user type that might use a site, brand, or product in a similar way. Marketers may use personas together with market segmentation, where the qualitative personas are constructed to be representative of specific segments.
Researching and creating personas helps by getting designers to see things from the perspective of your users. Personas help designers avoid the trap of building what users ask for rather than what they actually need. Disagreements among team members over design decisions can be resolved by referring back to the personas.
Design efforts can be prioritized based on persona levels: primary, secondary, tertiary.
Competitor Website Profile(s) Document
Competitor analysis is an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of current and potential competitors. This analysis provides both an offensive and defensive strategic context to identify opportunities and threats. Once the analysis is complete, a report is complied, called a Competitor Website Profile, which gives us insights into primary functionality and content, website structure, social media reach, advertising strategy, and the software and vendors utilized.
